#myMITEC by MITEC

MITEC is the Event Partner and Host Venue for Kind Malaysia by UBM to be held from 24 – 25 October 2018. MITEC is committed to implementing environmentally sustainable best practices for its own operations and to assist its clients in their efforts to address their environmental concerns.

Through MITEC’s #myWorld programme, it aims to give back to Malaysia and the community within which it is based and encourages its team members, partners and clients to get involved as the Venue strive to produce better experiences for a better planet.

The #myWorld Policy describes MITEC’s practices and programmes that work to reduce its environmental impact and drive sustainability. Its key sustainability objective is to support the UN World Tourism Organisation (UNWTO) Sustainable Development Goals with objective of developing “responsible, ‎sustainable and universally accessible tourism, paying particular attention to the ‎interests of developing countries”‎.

MITEC has identified five themes from the UNWTO Sustainable Development Goals that support its social and economic responsibilities to Malaysia and the community within which it is based, these themes include:
  • Good Health and Well-being – Goal 3: Ensure healthy lives and promote well-being for all at all ages.MITEC collaborated with National Kidney Foundation of Malaysia to provide health screening to team members, visitors and general public in conjunction with the World Health Day 2018 themed Universal Health Coverage: Everyone, Everywhere. Objective is to provide early detection and prevention knowledge as part of its #myWorld campaign to promote a sustainable future.

  • Quality Education – Goal 4: Ensure inclusive and quality education for all and promote lifelong learning.MITEC will ensure to promote lifelong learning to its team members and community in the business events industry by sharing the industry’s best practices.

  • Sustainable Cities and Communities – Goal 11: Make cities inclusive, safe, resilient and sustainable.MITEC launched the #myWorld campaign on 14 January 2018 to create a healthier, cleaner and better place for quality living. The team who joined forces with volunteers from the police, fire department and Alam Flora took part in the 2-hour clean-up operation and helped remove litter around the 2,000 sqm of Dutamas neighbourhood and public areas.
  • Life on Land – Goal 15: Sustainably manage forests, combat desertification, halt and reverse land degradation, halt biodiversity loss.As an environmentally-conscious entity, MITEC participated in the Earth Hour 2018 to get back in touch with its roots and nurture nature. The inaugural participation by MITEC in the Earth Hour aims to shine a light on the importance of biodiversity and nature. Together, as individuals and corporate, we must show the same determination to halt biodiversity and nature loss as we have shown on climate action to secure a healthy, thriving and living planet for all.

  • Partnerships for the Goals – Goal 17: Revitalize the global partnership for sustainable development.UBM Malaysia announces the inaugural of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) project called Kind Malaysia 2018, a platform to connect corporates with civil society, in partnership with #myWorld by MITEC.

The Malaysia International Trade and Exhibition Centre (MITEC) sits on a sprawling 75.5 acres of the KL Metropolis, an integrated development within the Kuala Lumpur’s International Trade and Exhibition District.

Positioned as an economic catalyst and Gateway to Southeast Asia, MITEC is the third largest MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences and Exhibitions) venue in the Southeast Asia region and the largest trade and exhibition centre in Malaysia, offering over 45,000 sqm of exhibition space and triple volume exhibition halls with infinite possibilities.

Boasting the largest pillar-less exhibition hall in Malaysia with 12,960 sqm of column-free space on one level, MITEC offers 11 spacious exhibition halls as large as eight football fields combined, a ballroom and 13 meeting rooms.

One uniqueness of the Venue is the heavy duty loading exhibition halls at Level 1 that have a maximum floor loading of 50kN/sqm, which is able to support the weight of heavy machinery and vehicles, the first of its kind in the country.

In addition, there is a direct 24-hour service ramp access to all floors, connected to every exhibition hall with each of the levels having their own designated hall loading bay to avoid congestion. A great capture is its central 15m-long escalators, which is one the highest and longest escalators in Malaysia and all are energy-saving, fitted with motion sensors.
