Mr. John-Son Oei
Founder and Group CEO, Epic

John-Son Oei is the Co-Founder and Group CEO of Epic Collective. Established in 2010, Epic inspires, mobilises and empowers individuals to live extraordinary lives dedicated to creating a positive impact around them. This is best shown through Epic’s flagship initiative, Epic Homes, which focuses on building homes for marginalised indigenous communities while bridging the gap between the rural and urban divide. To date, Nearly 7000 volunteers were mobilised to build homes for almost 200 families in 16 villages across Malaysia.

Epic has also been proudly involved in community development projects around the region, while also establishing itself as a consultant to organisations from multiple sectors, including the Malaysian government and most recently the Obama Foundation.

John-Son’s work has also won him recognition and awards; amongst which include being accepted into the prestigious Ashoka Fellowship, The Muhammad Ali Humanitarian Award for Dedication 2017, being listed in Forbes 30 under 30 2016, and SME Malaysian Social Entrepreneur of the Year 2017.

John-Son also served on the Board of Directors of Malaysian Global Innovation & Creativity Centre (MaGIC) from 2019-2021.

Justin joined KSK in his current capacity in 2008 after volunteering here for about a year, marking his presence since its beginning. He is one of the many wonderful individuals who worked towards the growth of the society to what it has become today.

Coming from a humble background made him realise the importance of giving; the joy of doing so is priceless and nothing compares to the sense of fulfilment in seeing those helped experiencing a better quality of life.

Justin takes great pride in the work KSK is doing and is grateful to all sponsors, volunteers, supporters, and its wonderful committee and staff who form the legs that allow it to develop even further.

Ms Nik Suzila Bio
Co-Founder of Kloath Cares

Nik Suzila (Suzy) is a graduate with a Bachelor of Accounting and had worked both in the finance and media industry in business development, brand and commercial division for 14 years.

She co-founded Kloth Malaysia Sdn. Bhd. (KMSB) in 2013 with Sarah Kedah, both inspiring to become the leading social enterprise in catalysing the textiles, clothing and plastics circular economy.

Through the Kloth Cares Fabric Recycling Movement, over 4.2 million kg of unwanted garments has been collected over 52 months, from August 2018. In addition, over 24, 000 units/ pieces of upcycled products were produced by the B40 ladies around Selangor, made from unwanted fabrics through the Kloth Woman Up initiative.

Dr. (Hon.) Wong Siew Te Bio
Founder of Bornean Sun Bear Conservation Centre (BSBCC)

Dr. (Hon.) Wong Siew Te, D.J.N. is a Malaysian wildlife biologist and tropical forest ecologist. He did his Bachelor, Master, and Doctorate degrees in Wildlife Biology at the University of Montana, USA, and has an honorary doctorate from the University of Sunshine Coast in Australia. Dr. (Hon.) Wong is the CEO and founder of the Bornean Sun Bear Conservation Center in Sabah, Malaysian Borneo, which he founded in 2008. Dr. Wong has been recognized with numerous awards for his work on sun bear conservation and is a worldwide authority on this rare bear species.

Mr. Zaim Mohzani
Co-Founder, Nation Building School & Malaysia Jobs Coalition

Zaim Mohzani is the Co-Founder of Nation Building School, a social impact organisation dedicated to tackling youth unemployment. He is also the Co-Founder of the Malaysia Jobs

Coalition (MJC), a coalition of CSOs fighting for full employment. Over the course of 10 years, Zaim has established three non-profit organisations that have impacted over 30,000 young people.

Zaim is the Director of External Relations of KSI Strategic Institute for Asia Pacific (KSI), an internationally ranked regional think tank based in Malaysia. He is the Youth Chair of the Society for the Promotion of Human Rights Malaysia (PROHAM).

Zaim has been selected for various fellowships and leadership programmes including Dalai Lama Fellows, Acumen Academy Fellowship, British Council Future Leaders Connect, World Economic Forum’s Global Shapers, U.S. Department of State YSEALI Professional Fellowship and ASEAN Youth Fellowship. He was appointed as an Associate Fellow of the Royal Commonwealth Society and was also the Founding Chairman of Impact Integrated (2018-2023), a government agency under the Ministry of Youth and Sports.

Zaim holds an MSc in International Strategy and Diplomacy (Distinction) from the London School of Economics and Political Science (UK) and a BA in Political Science from Monash University (Australia). He was selected as a finalist for the British Council’s UK Alumni Awards 2021-2022. As a Chevening scholar, Zaim has served as the President of Chevening Alumni Malaysia (2020-2022) and is the Co-Founder of the Chevening Alumni Southeast Asian Network (CASEAN).

Ms Anita Ahmad
Lead for Community Development and Humanitarian Disaster Response Hasanah Foundation, a foundation of Khazanah Nasional Berhad

Anita is currently the Lead for Community Development and Humanitarian Disaster Response in Hasanah Foundation, a foundation of Khazanah Nasional Berhad. In this role, she drives the organisation’s community based socio-economic strategies and supports the capacity building of the non-profit sector ecosystem. Anita also leads on various multistakeholder partnerships such as the Government-GLC Demi Rakyat Dan Negara (GDRN)-NGOs initiative in responding to humanitarian needs during natural disasters and the current COVID-19 pandemic.

She has 20 years’ experience in different capacities in the non-profit sector including in the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in Malaysia and the NGO MERCY Malaysia. At the UN, she supported the Government of Malaysia in developing and advocating policies on gender equality as well as the rights of indigenous people and persons with disabilities. At MERCY, she coordinated and implemented humanitarian projects in Afghanistan, Iraq, Sudan, Syria and Jordan amongst others.

In 2017, Anita was awarded the Eisenhower Fellowship and the John S. Wolf Fellowship during which time she spent two months in the US understanding different organisations’ approaches to community development. She has a masters’ degree in social development (during which time she was awarded the Chevening Scholarship) and a bachelors’ degree in law, from the UK.

Ms Prema Ponnudurai
Head of School, School of Media and Communication Taylor’s University

Prema Ponnudurai is the Deputy Director of the Education for All impact lab at Taylor’s University and is also the Head of School, School of Media and Communication at Taylor’s University. A graduate of English Literature (Hons) from the University of Buckingham, England, she has also a Masters in English as a Second Language (MESL) from the University of Malaya, Malaysia and is currently completing her PhD in Education focusing on work-based learning. 

She has over two decades of knowledge and hands-on experience in the fields of teaching and learning, leadership, administration and has numerous publications, book chapters and news articles to her name. She is an alumna of the US State Department, Bureau of Education and Cultural Affairs and completed a Fellowship as a Visiting Scholar at New York University (NYU, US).

Her passion lies in bringing education to the forefront in order to reduce inequalities, support communities and individuals in need to achieve socioeconomical mobility and improve the quality of life. Seeped in this commitment, she continuously works with various local and international organisations and individuals such as Yayasan Chow Kit, Tenaganita and was on the feedback committee of the United Nations Development Program to promote and touch lives through education. She firmly believes in the words of Nelson Mandela, ‘it is not beyond our power to create a world in which all children have access to a good education’.

Mr. Chun Wah Hoo
NGO Hub

Since 2013, Wah Hoo helped establish and kick start more than 25 rural and urban community education centers nationwide, fundraised more than RM5 million in donations to social projects, and bringing NGOs in Malaysia together through the NGOhub platform working with government ministries, the Welfare Department, volunteer groups and corporations to solve social issues together.

Through NGOhub and Givinghub, he is working to trigger, facilitate and grow collaborations for social impact through the application of network science.
